2014 PINOT NOIR, SONOMA COAST
The aptly named 50 by 50 Pinot Noir is in fact a 50/50 blend of two Pinot Noir clones – The Pommard and the 667 Dijon clone. Rootstock is 101-14. The bottled wine is unfined and gluten-free. The juice spent 12 months in French Oak Barriques after being fermented with RC212 yeast (from Burgundy) in small, half-ton bins which were punched down by hand twice daily for 14 days.
The 2014 vintage captures the tremendous depth and character of Sonoma Coast’s stellar growing season. Cherry and Blackberry flavors with a hint of Cinnamon yield to deeply satisfying earth and spice finish.
The 300 case production from 5.2 tons of fruit was bottled in December of 2015 by winemaker, Kenn Vigoda who now fashions boutique wines at Judd’s Hill Micro Crush in Napa Valley on the Silverado Trail after his 24 years of making wine at Raymond Vineyards.
